“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.” Numbers 6:24-25
When I pray with people, I often ask God to richly bless them during whatever season they are in or coming out of. That was my prayer today, but it is wasn’t for just one individual…it was for the 41 beautiful Global Women we’ve all been waiting for. And richly blessed they were!
Some of these ladies are coming off their field assignments very recently and attending the Thrive retreat before beginning furlough. Others have been in the states a little while and the timing of the retreat fit perfectly with their home assignment schedule. Whatever the case, these women were richly blessed. They are typically the ones doing the serving and for four days they get to be served!
They were presented with a menagerie of self-care options—counseling, haircut, pedicure, massage, one-on-one prayer. They could schedule one or all of these things. Some did just that! Others just wanted one or two. There was no pressure to do any of it.
At the opening session, it was revealed to the women that there were two surprises for them: A clothing boutique and a bookstore. At some point during the retreat, they have the opportunity to shop for brand new clothes, accessories, and new books to take home with them. The ladies lit up when this was announced! For some of these women, they may not have bought clothes for themselves in a very long time and do not have the budget for a luxury such as this. They are used to wearing hand-me-downs or have had the same pair of pants or shoes for 10 or more years. This boutique will bless their socks off!
Through this simple act, we pray that they will feel God’s lavish love towards them.
