The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Our group was serving in Belgium this summer to help those affected by the refugee crisis. This is the largest center for asylum seekers in Belgium. It can house over 700 individuals. Dozens of countries and cultures are represented inside these walls. We spent time with the children, planning special activities for them and hearing their stories. One little girl told of her journey to Europe and how she fell into the icy waters, not knowing when help would arrive. Her one wish is for her father who is still in Afghanistan to be reunited with her family.
