He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
You’d never know by looking that this stretch of road is mere minutes from the hustle and bustle of Rome. One of the oldest roads in Europe, the via Appia Antica was built in the 5th century and was traveled by Paul and Peter. Today it’s narrow and off the beaten path, an unfortunate parallel to the state of Christianity in Italy and throughout Europe. But the Lord’s presence is there. Walking on ancient stones into one of the world’s most religious cities, God kept reminding me, “I am your refreshment. I will lead you and guide you. I am the Way.”
