Today we pray for…

Attendees:  Sue, Jan, and Arlita

The Lord will save me and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord (Isaiah 38:20).

Dear Heavenly Father,

Part of serving overseas when we are older is separation from our children who have grown and left home for college, careers, and families of their own. When global women send their children to their new adult lives, they are sending them far away; across countries, continents, and many time zones.

It is normal for mothers everywhere to wonder if their children are ready to fly. It is normal for moms to spend hours in prayer as they wait for texts, emails, or a phone call while wondering if their children are OK. It is normal for moms to wish they could be closer, hear more, know more of their children’s lives. But, for moms overseas, the distance can seem too far, the amount of contact more than too little, the need to entrust their child to You their only choice.

Please help these courageous, generous, and willing moms to find encouragement while they are at the retreat. May their faith in You as their children’s loving Heavenly Father go deeper than it has ever gone before. Please, Dear God, help their children to be all You created them to be and these children to walk with You all the days of their lives.

Throughout the years, Kenya has been seen as one of the more stable countries of East Africa, yet like its neighbors, pervasive corruption in the highest levels keeps it from realizing its potential. A huge national debt, the marginalization of non-ruling ethnic groups and the spread of HIV/AIDS does not make for a bright future. Yet the possibility of major changes exist as over 35% of the people claim to be evangelical. In spite of nominalism within the Protestant church, many believers are making a difference and can be found in all levels of government, commerce, and relief and compassion work. We pray for the equipping of Kenyan believers to be godly influencers in their country as they face incredible challenges and become pivotal players in reaching the continent for Christ.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
