Today we pray for…

Attendees: Kelly, Claire, Melissa, Marcy, and Elizabeth

Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:23-24).

Dear Heavenly Father,

On July 10th, North American women who are on home assignment from their cross-cultural service overseas will be attending Thrive’s furlough retreat. Most women cannot say that furlough is a vacation or even a restful time. May this furlough retreat be a special time for them to come away with You to find rest and refreshment.

These women are in the US to report to their sending churches and agencies about their work overseas. They hope to enjoy special times with family and friends. Many of them will be crisscrossing the country in a vehicle with their children, staying in people’s homes, and eating at many people’s dining room tables. They will also be speaking to interested groups and raising awareness of prayer and support needs. Their time in the US, their “furlough,” will not be a vacation or restful – it may even be more stressful than their lives overseas.

We ask, dear Father, that you use the retreat to provide an oasis of peace, calm, and rest for them. Please use the time to encourage their faith and to meet the heart needs they are bringing with them to the retreat.

We thank you, Lord, that the miniscule evangelical witness is growing in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Evangelicals have gained credibility as the only ones to bridge the gulf between ethnic groups. We pray for the few believers and their witness in this war-torn land, amid a population uniquely receptive to the gospel – for a while. We pray for those involved in aid, rehabilitation, outreach, and church-planting ministries to fully identify with the people and that through them a harvest may be won. We pray for effective networking to occur among the expatriates.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
