____________________ DAY 5 – LANGUAGE/CULTURE____________________
We pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen each of these ladies with power through his Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. … May they have the power … to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ … Do so in a way that is immeasurably more than all they could ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within each of them!
Ephesians 3:14–20 (paraphrased)
Today we pray for attendees: Kristen, Laurel, Lisa, and Lynn
Language and culture learning may be two of the most draining things experience when beginning a new life on the field, yet they are also the very things that bring a worker to a place of contentment and effectiveness. Father God, we ask that You give them courage, perseverance, and energy for this process. Help them maintain (or develop) a sense of humor in the midst of the struggles. Grant them creativity (especially with little ones) and discipline—interspersed with much grace. Guard them from the ever-present comparison game.
We praise you Lord for the growth of the church in Indonesia over the past 40 years. Thank you that the harsh extremism of Islamists has repelled many moderate Muslims. We are grateful that when the government mandated each citizen adhere to one of the five recognized religions, it encouraged many animists to consider the claims of the “good news”. Lord, we thank you that the lives of committed Christians, prayer, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit have brought about fruit. We pray against ancient and powerful occult powers in the country and ask for continued growth of your Church. We also pray against the Islamization of Indonesia that has claimed the lives of many believers and seen hundreds of churches destroyed. Father, please continue to raise up godly leadership, effective teaching, and a growing vision for global work. Protect your Church.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
