My name is Marie Schockey and along with my husband, minister in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, a city titled “The Most Deadly City in the World in 2010 through 2013.

I grew up in a non-Christian home and meet the Lord at nineteen.  I began to read books about global workers and ask the Lord if I could be a global worker somewhere that I would really have to trust him.  In Juarez, I have seen people murdered, had friends pulled out of cars and murdered, had sons of our students murdered, and more.  All the ladies that attend my Bible study have had a family member murdered within the past five years.

My husband and I started Servant Senders Inc. in Juarez and have been serving there for almost 16 years.  We raise up Mexican nationals to be pastors, teachers, and leaders. Our students are taught the Bible verse by verse, as well as leadership and job skills to support their families and ministries. They are also placed back in school to complete grade school through junior high and go on to a trade school. This has led to planting 8 churches, 3 feeding and education programs for children, classes at the police academy, devotions for multiple police and fire stations, military bases, and rehab centers, and various kids clubs in and around the city.

We would ask you to pray for:

  • The health and safety of our students, pastors, leaders, and ourselves.
  • Doors to continue to remain open to the government agencies in which we are involved.
  • That the Lord would continue to meet the needs of the ministry and those with whom we work.
  • For me personally, that I can learn how to disconnect and rest on our time of furlough.
