I am Cecile Sander…daughter of the Most High God. Often refer to myself as “Barnaby” (female for Barnabas) as I believe FatherGod has called me to be a woman of Encouragement. Whether it is to my husband George, a pastor/teacher who I follow wherever the Lord sends us in the world, or to my 2 precious children and their spouses, or to whomever the Lord sends in my path.

Currently I am a pastor’s wife and serve with my husband in many capacities both in the local church and beyond. I have a passion for women and love to facilitate special events to reach and equip them to grow to their full potential. As a trained lay counselor, I enjoy coming alongside people, assisting them to move beyond life’s problems and realities that may hamper them. My greatest joy is discipling women from all cultures and walks of life.

We are in the last few months of our term of service in Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean. We live and work from Pereybere, a large coastal town in the north of the island. We will be going home to RSA for a few months in September and waiting on clarity for where to next.

Please pray for God’s peace and comfort in this time of transition. I tend to put my roots down real deep and have grown so close to many island folks the last 3 and 1/2 years. My heart aches to go – yet I desire to do the Lord’s will only. Also pray that the Lord will continue the work He started and that He will raise people up who would disciple the many nations represented on this small sea-locked land. Pray that my husband and I will know the Lord’s leading and be enabled to follow wherever He takes us.

About the author

We did pastoral work on the little island of Mauritius for four years but returned to South Africa in September 2014. Since December we are working on the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal where my husband is the director for Crusade for Christ (an indigenous mission) and I coordinate the ministry of Silver Oaks Retreat and Conference Center. We see ourselves called to equip the saints to do the works God has gifted them to do (Ephesians 4:12) Our main ministry is to Xhosa and Zulu folk and we feel honored to serve the Lord for this season in this place.
