Today we pray for…

Retreat attendees: Ruth, Marjorie, and Carol

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love… May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us (Psalm 91:12,14,17).

When one lives a significant portion of your life overseas in ministry, the thought of returning to your passport country (debatable whether you consider it ‘home’ or not) can cause a myriad of emotions and practical issues. Retirement is a loaded word with lots of expectations. Lord, we ask for provision of their needs. Help them find a new place to connect, serve, and make friends. Grant them insight, grace and patience as they enter into this next chapter of their lives – once again a cultural re-entry.

We also ask for your blessing as these women desire to be great grandparents long distance – grant them creativity, and connection with the kids. When Stateside, bless the reunions with laughter and significant memories.

The small country of Bulgaria, bordered on the south by Greece and Turkey and the north by Romania, has come a long way since its days of Communist rule. Its 7 million or so citizens joined the EU last year, a source of pride for a country that has been one of the backwaters of eastern Europe for decades. The growth of the evangelical church has also been a reason for celebration. Yet with growth comes the challenge of maturation. We pray for cooperation and wisdom amongst the various groups and cross-cultural works in the development of effective structures for evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
