Today we pray for…

Retreat attendee: Lena

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life (Psalm 143:8).

Reverse culture shock…coming back to what one would consider “home”, after being gone for two or more years can be exactly that…a shock. Their lives have undergone radical change, (purposeful pursuit of God’s calling, culture, language, sickness, spiritual encounters, danger). There is an excitement, hope and expectation of reconnecting with family and friends, and sharing about all that God has done in their lives. They may feel disappointed if the connection is not as deep as they would like. Lord, help them not to take this personally. Guide them to and surprise them with those who will truly listen and interact with them. May they show grace to those who don’t. Lord, we pray the women maintain a learning posture (about the US culture that used to be a “given”), and a sense of humor. Give them significant conversations while at the retreat with tips of how to maneuver and make the most out of their time Stateside.

Solomon Islands: Consisting of 7 major islands and small atolls, their names read like a World War II history book. One of the few countries with a history of revivals, the population is largely Christian. Unfortunately, those revivals are of the past. A destructive conflict at the beginning of the decade left the country in ruin, which impacted even to this day the church’s abilities to witness. We pray that leaders would boldly lead their churches in making a difference in the lives of the people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
