Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfected of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart (Hebrews 12:1-3).

Thank you that Terri, Debbie, and Bethany are willing to live in this area of the world to serve You.  Life is lived at a high level of stress and caution while learning to love the people around them. Many live in a constant state of uncertainty as to how long they can be there and have contingency plans in case their husband doesn’t return home from work (knowing it can be because of kidnapping, hostage-taking, or even killed). Holy Spirit, we ask for continual conviction of sin and cleansing of Jesus in their lives along with strength to persevere.  Help them to not lose focus and buy into the lie of not being worthy or doing enough and living in a constant state of fear. As they endure opposition, help them fix their eyes on Jesus.  May their time at the retreat in worship, small group, intercession, and afternoon relaxation options enable them to do all the above. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
