Global Woman Highlight | Mandy Shaarda

I am Mandy Shaarda, a child of God!  I am the wife of my best friend, Josh, and mother to Lydia (10), Grace (8), Luka (almost 5), and Emalai (1).  We have been cross-cultural workers since 2001 (in Nigeria and now in Uganda).  My role is mostly supporting my husband’s ministry and discipling our children.  My husband trains church leaders in the village of Obulle, Uganda.  Sometimes I homeschool my children but right now we have a teacher!  I also spend a lot of time caring for our team and sharing hospitality.  I also enjoy visiting with our village friends, leading Bible study when I can, and communicating with our supporters.

It has been a difficult year with many discouragements especially with our team.  I am tired and emotionally on empty.  I am resting in the Lord knowing I need to be ministered to so I can continue to do ministry.  Pray for our family as we recently moved to the village.  We know God has called us here and we are all excited to be near our friends, but it also means no running water nor power.  (We are blessed with a well, rain water, and solar power.)  Pray for my husband, Josh, as he takes on area leader and continues with teaching in the village that God will empower him.  Pray for a teacher for our children next year so I can continue to focus on being a good mom (teaching is hard and a full time job!).
