The Power of God

They say that all missionaries hit a wall after about 6 months on the field…and I was no exception. September was a tough month for me in Odessa, Ukraine. Feeling isolated by the language barrier and weak in spirit, I wondered how God could use me. The day I took this picture, walking on the shore of the Black Sea, I thought the weather was so appropriate for my experience. And just as light shone through those clouds, it shone through my own darkness as well. God blessed me through my struggle, bringing me to my knees so that I would once again trust in His steadfast love and faithfulness. I may not be able yet to put into (Russian) words all that I want to say to my Ukrainian friends, but I believe that my love is communicated to them, as the Spirit works through me even in my weakness.
