Ephesians 5:1-2, 8 – Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.

We pray today for our attendees, Jessy and Krista, as well as our retreat volunteer, Linda.

Dear Father, as the volunteers make preparations to travel to the retreat site, please guide and strengthen them as they gather, organize and pack all the needed supplies.  Please protect their physical health leading up to the retreat, that they would arrive strong and well, which would enable them to serve you with the energy they need to endure the steady pace once the retreat begins. Guard their hearts in these days leading up to the retreat and give them a tender anticipation for meeting and interacting – “walking in the way of love,” as your Word says – with the attendees.

Father, for the attendees, we ask that you would even now give them a sense of eagerness and desire to receive the love the volunteers hope to demonstrate toward them for your sake, and that you would use that demonstration of love to affect healing and encouragement in their lives, which we know you desire to give.

We entrust these things to you, Lord, in Jesus’ name,

Amen

About the author

As a former missionary and current pastor's wife, Jill thrives when she is able to come alongside missionaries. Her ministry with PD Ministries and Thrive allows Jill to use her organizational and leadership skills as well as her flair for beauty to encourage missionary women. Jill loves to get away with her husband to mountain top retreats and to visit her far-away grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit has taken her para sailing, scuba diving, she has eaten strange foods like scorpions and crickets, and traversed the Amazon's Chanchamayo River. Her creativity shows itself in her pottery and her spirit is renewed by reading, keeping a quiet heart, and coming alongside others as a teacher, coach, mentor and friend. She says, " I get ecstatic watching God speak in specific situations and issues through His Word and resolve challenges in a way that makes it clear HE's at work! It is exciting to watch His Word literally come alive in the midst of very real concerns."
