Yesterday, we were privileged to visit the Potter’s House, a beacon of hope in an area of desperate poverty. With the conviction that “God cares for the poor,” this remarkable Christian group reaches out to some of the 11,000 people – half of them children – who live in the city’s garbage dumps! We visited a classroom where about 50 elementary children enthusiastically sang, danced and drew pictures. We left feeling blessed that this small organization is shining God’s light on people whose lives are often dark indeed. – Carol B. (Guatemala Retreat Volunteer)
