I stand here, Lord and wave him out of sight,
He has to leave us once again,
I know not what awaits him down the road,
The where, the how, nor the when.

I long to go so, Father, I might know
his times of special need,
Remind me, Lord, we will not truly part,
Bound to each other through the Spirit’s lead.

I am not left behind I travel with him,
Upon my knees, I take his journey, too.
United in the Spirit, we will walk as one,
For we cannot be separate, Lord, in You.

But, Father, please, help me to stay on guard,
Aware, and at all times, alert,
To know Your touch when you urge me to prayer,
Should he encounter strife or hurt.
Oh, stop me, Lord, if I become engulfed
with details of my day.
Don’t let distractions from the Enemy
dissuade me when I’m needed most to pray.

I am not left behind I travel with him,
Upon my knees I take his journey, too.
United in the Spirit, we will walk as one,
For we cannot be separate, Lord, in You.
