Today we pray for…

Attendees: Moriah, Karen, and Bethany

You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.  With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.  As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.  He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him (Psalm 18:28-30).

If there are women who have experienced the darkness of depression that settles over them like a mantle, if they are having thoughts descend in varying shades of gray, covering the essence of who they are, we ask for You, the true Light, to shine on their value, worth, failures, lack and breathe into them Life-giving Spirit.  Create in them the breath of life, a reason for being.  May they feel deeply and fully, not reflecting their emptiness.  Lord, return to them the strength to color their world removing the shades of gray.  Our desire is that their time at the retreat be one of light and encouragement, lifting their spirits.

Father God, we thank you that in the 1990s there has been fast growth of Evangelicals through newer churches in Cameroon.  Many significant leaders in the professions, army, police, and politics have been converted – giving hope for changing society.  However, Lord, you know that some claim Cameroon as one of the most corrupt nations on earth, so we pray for true Christians of integrity to be raised up.  Nominal Christianity is a bigger problem in this land than in any other in Africa.  Tribalism, pagan practices, alcoholism, and low moral standards are endemic.  We pray for deep repentance, lasting deliverance, and true revival and a restoration of Bible reading, preaching, and holiness among believers.  We ask that you raise up godly leaders well trained in the Scriptures.  Today’s spiritual disaster has its roots in a failure in theological training.  Church leadership is more noted for pride, power struggles, disunity, moral failure, and misuse of funds than for holy living.  May you do your perfect work in this country. We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
