Today we pray for…
Attendees: Jodi and Becky
Blessed is the woman who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is in the Lord. For she’ll be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
In whatever circumstances the attendees are arriving with, may they experience Your light and hope in some tangible way during the retreat. May God visit these women with grace in their seasons of transitions. We pray that the barren landscape of trial will become the fertile soil for new growth. Gracious God revive their spirit and restore their laughter. May they find Him in their pain and trust Him in their waiting. May the One who redeems all things meet them powerfully as they journey through a “Land Between” (The Land Between: Finding God in Difficult Transitions, Jeff Manion). We pray that You free them from a spirit of fear.
Afghanistan is one of the least-reached countries in the world. There are 48,000 mosques but not a single church building. We pray for the 70 unreached peoples of this land. Although there is no visible church, the number of Afghan believers is increasing in urban and some remote rural areas. We pray for their protection, consistency of faith, and clarity of witness whenever opportunity arises. Thank you Father that since 1966 a number of Christian relief and development agencies have ministered to the blind, maimed, sick, deprived, illiterate, and needy. We pray for their courage in the face of severe restrictions or constant harassment; may their lives commend the gospel.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
