My name is Krista and I currently live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I met Jesus and accepted Him as my Lord and Savior when I was a child growing up in Minnesota. After I graduated from the university, I moved to South Korea to teach English. It was then that I was introduced to the atrocities of sex trafficking and modern day slavery around the world. The more I learned, the more my heart broke. God ignited this passion in me and before long I was moving to Cambodia to serve with an anti-trafficking organization.
I’ve been serving with Agape International Missions in Cambodia for the last two years. We fight sex trafficking using a holistic approach through prevention programs, rescues, restoration, reintegration, and sharing the Gospel in the communities. I have the honor and privilege to work at our restoration home where we care for about 70 beautiful girls rescued from sex trafficking. My main role at the restoration home is directing the school. I serve by encouraging and training our teachers, developing school programs and policies, handling discipline, empowering our staff, and loving on the girls as much as I can.
Please pray for discernment as the need in Cambodia grows, most of our ministries are functioning at capacity. Pray for these rescued young girls and women, for more sustainable jobs, for healing only Jesus can bring and for hearts to be transformed in the communities we live and work in. Please pray for perseverance for our staff, Cambodian and expat. There are times when it’s hard to tangibly see the good. For me personally, please pray for discernment and patience in caring for the girls and also that I would seek the Lord and His strength continually.
