Behold, the Lord our God has shown us his glory and greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire.
Deuteronomy 5:24
I went to see Mount Bromo with a friend from the US. It was a hard trip because I rented a hotel that was on the far side of the volcano (I had no idea). The road was shut down because of an ash falling so it took us 6 hours to get to the hotel (instead of 3). It was really really cold and we were not prepared so we bought hats and gloves from the vendors the next morning at 3am when we headed to watch the sunrise.
The view made the had trip so worth it! As I watched the beautiful purple color fill the sky I was brought to tears by the beauty. I am a mountain girl and have spent most of my vacations in the NC mountains enjoying the blue/purple sunsets. It was such a gift to see beauty like that here in this country. There is lots of beauty in the nature here and around the beaches. I don’t see those places often and am surrounded with lots of noise, dirt, offensive smells, heat, and long rainy days. I realized I have a place inside of me that God has made that needs to be fed by His beauty. Going to Bromo made me realize I need to make an effort to see more of His beauty in this country.
