Today we pray for Raising Kids Cross Culturally

Attendees: Amy, Elizabeth, Victoria, Ejin, Josephine and Brooke

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Dear Heavenly Father,

Raising children takes incredible courage no matter where you live, but it can be especially challenging overseas. Many of our attendees are raising children overseas. While some have chosen private or public education choices, others have happily chosen to home school their children. There are also parents who are struggling with the challenges of educating their children in their location.

No matter where families live, the culture of our location can impact our children in positive or negative ways. Sometimes, children raised overseas feel that they do not belong or feel at home anywhere. Children who grow up overseas often do not get to see extended family as much as their stateside peers. All of these challenges and more impact the children of our attendees.

We ask that You give our attendee parents perception so they can notice how the culture around them may be impacting their children. Please help these precious children find their identity in You. Please strengthen the family ties that stretch around the world. Please help these children to grow up whole and healthy in every way and walk with You all the days of their lives.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Regional Prayer Focus Nation: Vietnam

Challenges for Prayer

The deepest spiritual allegiance in Vietnam is not to Communism, nor to the amalgam of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism traditionally practiced by Vietnamese. It is the veneration and worship of ancestors that runs deepest and across most religious practices. Its impact is usually underestimated. Christians face hard questions in dealing with this issue biblically. Pray for the gospel to be wisely contextualized into this reality even while generational bonds that run counter to Christ are broken.
