Today we pray for…
Attendee: Michelle
For though these ladies live in the world, they do not wage war as the world does. The weapons they fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. May they use their powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, intentionally fitting every loose THOUGHT and EMOTION and IMPULSE into the structure of life shaped by Christ. May they use their tools at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. II Corinthians 10 :3-5 [The Message, paraphrased]
Lord, we pray that the ladies will find the retreat to be a sanctuary of rest from warfare. We ask that You guide, protect, and convict them when sin is trying to take root. Strengthen them in battle when Satan attempts to gain a foothold in their hearts. Through Your Spirit, make them sensitive to enemy encroachment; may they run to You to be their stronghold and refuge in times of trouble. May the cry of their hearts be cleanse me from secret faults (Psalm 19:12). Deliver them from every evil work and preserve them for Your heavenly kingdom. Give them strength to combat the lies that infiltrate their thoughts, and replace lies with Your truth.
May the ladies be enveloped in a sense of Your peace, love, joy. Holy Spirit, have free reign in and through each lady present. We ask for Your blessing on small groups and self-care activities today. Remove resistance of any kind.
God, we thank You for the great freedom in Zimbabwe since independence to preach the gospel in public, on the media, and in the schools and prisons despite the worsening political climate. It’s incredible that Target 2000, the multi-denominational vision for saturation church-planting met the goal of doubling the number of churches from 10,000 in 1992 to 20,000 in 2000! In light of this, Lord, we pray for a multiplication of mature leaders, the effective teaching and discipling of the various Bible schools and seminaries, spiritual unity, a prophetic voice for the church, and a clear stand against witchcraft and demonic powers. Father, You also know the AIDS calamity in Zimbabwe is one of the world’s worst. We pray for radical change in hearts and attitudes toward sex and HIV/AIDS. We pray for an effective government, NGO, and church response and for the specific programs run by Christian agencies to address this issue. We give all this to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
