Today we pray for…

Attendees: Deborah and MaryAnn

We pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen each of these ladies with power through his Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. … May they have the power … to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ … Do so in a way that is immeasurably more than all they could ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within each of them! Ephesians 3:14–20 (paraphrased)

Language and culture learning may be two of the most draining things women experience when beginning a new life on the field, yet they are also the very things that bring a global worker to a place of contentment and effectiveness. Father God, we ask that You give them courage, perseverance, and energy for this process. Help them maintain (or develop) a sense of humor in the midst of the struggles. Grant them creativity (especially with little ones) and discipline—interspersed with much grace. Guard them from the ever-present comparison game.

Few countries have suffered through decades of civil war like Angola. Lord, we pray for reconciliation and peace among the people of Angola. May the Christian church step up and be peacemakers in a land where forgiveness is scarce and hatred runs deep. We seek Your Spirit moving upon the leaders of the country to put aside their agendas and seek justice and help those trapped in poverty. May this broken country find healing through a revival of hearts that seek to trust in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
