Today we pray for…
Attendees: Kim and Selinda
Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God
(Titus 2:4-5).
Dear Heavenly Father,
Among our volunteer team and the global women who attend the retreat, there will be newlyweds and women who have been married decades. They will represent healthy marriages, hurting marriages, marriages gone stale, and marriages that are alive and thriving.
Thank you for the gift of love You give spouses. Sometimes marriages lived in a foreign, strange, and hostile environment can fail because so much is coming against them. Lack of community, lack of family support, and the strangeness of a faraway place can work against the most loving couple.
Please encourage the wives at the retreat to seek Your help in being the wives You desire them to be. Teach them new ways to live with their husbands in love and respect. Please bring lies to light and reveal truth. Please show where self has led to selfishness and where choices have led to relationship challenges. Renew and restore marriages with Your grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
Father, it would be a challenge to find a country that could match the misery that Iraq has suffered over the last two decades and continues to do so to this day. Car-bombings and assassinations are everyday occurrences as Iraqis seek to climb out of the long tunnel of violence that grips the country. Father, we pray for the evangelical church of Iraq as it faces a radical Islam unleashed by the fall of Saddam Hussein. We also lift up the evangelical ministries going on in spite of the very real threat of kidnappings and murder. May the Holy Spirit move in a miraculous way in the hearts of the people.
In hope we ask, In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
