________________ DAY 20 – COLLEGE/ADULT CHILDREN________________
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7
Today we pray for attendees: Maria, Nannette, Monica, Sharon, and Kristen
Father, You have given us a heart of love for our children. Many of the women who have attended the retreat say that sending their kids off to college in the US is one of the hardest sacrifices they make in being cross-cultural workers. It is a time of difficult transitions for the entire family. Parenting these children long-distance is a real challenge. Lord, I/we ask for Your comfort when anxieties overwhelm them. Guard their minds with Your truth and may they have Your strength to reject lies that Satan would use to paralyze them. I/we ask for consistent and honest communication. Please provide healthy relationships and an intimate holistic journey in Jesus for each of these young adults.
In addition, free the mothers from anxiety about their adult children, and give them peace. Reaffirm to them that You are greater than anything they face. Help them not to blame themselves for things that go wrong in the lives of their children. Redeem parental mistakes and release them from guilt. Help them forgive their children for things they have done that hurt or disappoint them. Help them forgive others who have hurt their children in any way. Give them faith to believe and patience to wait for the answers. Their heart’s desire is that each one walk intimately with Jesus.
Few countries have undergone such a change in their makeup as the United Kingdom. After a long history of influencing the Christian world of global work, the secularization of England is matched only by the variety of people groups who now call the British Isles home. From Kenya to India to Pakistan to literally hundreds of other countries, the church in the United Kingdom has the world coming to them. And ironically, global workers from these countries now look at Britain as a global worker field. Heavenly Father, we pray for unity and wisdom in outreach efforts among the churches and global workers. There is still a strong current within the Church of England, we pray that its influence would grow in this largely liberal body.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
