_______________________ DAY 22 – KIDS/SCHOOL_______________________
I/we want to keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give these ladies (and their families) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that they may KNOW him better. I/we pray also that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened in order that they may know the HOPE to which he has called them, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great POWER for them who believe.
Ephesians 1:17-19 (paraphrased)
Today I/we pray for attendees: Robyn, Adina, Nichole, Kristina, and Ruth
Many of the attendees homeschool their children. (Lord, instill these students with a love of learning that will fill the gaps that may occur in the curriculum.) Juggling multiple ages, various learning styles, and sometimes learning disabilities—while having the cultural (and ministry) need to be hospitable and available—is a daunting task. Balance between family and ministry roles is a continual area of tension. Father, grant them an abundance of grace, humor, wisdom, perseverance, and strength.
Conversely, attending national schools can carry its own set of challenges. Different philosophies of education, corporal punishment, or a shame-based approach to motivating students are some areas that may be experienced. Learning the language and culture at various ages and developing friendships is also a challenge. All these things can add up to huge hits on an already uprooted identity for these cross-cultural children. Holy Spirit, please comfort and ground everyone in Your love and truth—including the parents.
Last, but not least, I/we commit those kids to You who are in boarding schools. Surround them with godly people who will be like family to them. Help them lean into You during the lonely, discouraging times–both the kids and the parents.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
