Hi, I’m Joy Bissonnette!
My husband, daughter, and I are global workers with Cadence, International, currently serving as Hospitality House Directors in Germany. Our mission with Cadence is: “sharing the gospel and our lives with the military community”. We have the privilege of serving the US military men, women and families at Spangdahlem Air Base. Our 10-bedroom home on 3 ½ acres is a “home away from home” to 70-100 adults and 30-40 children on a weekly basis.
What happens at our Hospitality House?
Sundays we support the chapel/chaplains on base serving in various ways and connecting with airmen and families through chapel services.
Mondays we mentor airmen and spouses one on one, catch up on administrative work, pray for our community, and host a teen Bible Study in our barn.
Tuesdays we have moms and tots over for play dates, plan menus, and shop for groceries.
Wednesdays we prepare food and host dinner in our home. Dinner is followed by worship and Bible study; we also provide children’s ministry for 30-40 kids through the help of volunteers. Afterwards, we all head outside for lawn games (light and weather permitting): sand volleyball, trampoline, zip line, can jam, horseshoes, corn hole, or hillbilly golf.
Thursdays we attempt to practice Sabbath to rest and refresh as a family.
Fridays we have more one on one meetings, counsel couples, and host a small group dinner and Bible Study for some of our leadership couples. We have a great time digging into God’s Word, sharing our joys and sorrows, and praying together!
Saturdays we live in “community” finding ways to connect with each other through hikes, bike rides, local festivals, camp-outs, picnics, Christmas markets, service projects, excursions, etc.
Our hope is to see “Christ exalted in the nations through the lives of transformed military people”. It’s a big calling and a full life, but we love what we do, with whom we get to do it, and most of all for WHOM we do it. We would not be here if it weren’t for the many who partner with us in prayer and financial support. We are so grateful that God has called us here for “such a time as this”.
