____________________ DAY 10 – LANGUAGE/CULTURE___________________
We pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen each of these ladies with power through his Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. … May they have the power … to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ … Do so in a way that is immeasurably more than all they could ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within each of them!
Ephesians 3:14–20 (paraphrased)
Today I/we pray for attendees: Danielle, Cinda, Amanda, and Kristina
Language and culture learning may be two of the most draining things experience when beginning a new life on the field, yet they are also the very things that bring a worker to a place of contentment and effectiveness. Father God, I/we ask that You give them courage, perseverance, and energy for this process. Help them maintain (or develop) a sense of humor in the midst of the struggles. Grant them creativity (especially with little ones) and discipline—interspersed with much grace. Guard them from the ever-present comparison game.
Few countries have undergone such a change in makeup as the United Kingdom. After a long history of influencing the Christian world, the secularization of England is matched only by the variety of people groups who now call the British Isles home. From Kenya to India to Pakistan to literally hundreds of other countries, the evangelical church in the United Kingdom has the world coming to them. And ironically, evangelical global workers from these countries look at Britain now as “the field”. Heavenly Father, I/we pray for unity and wisdom in outreach efforts among the churches and global workers. There is still a strong evangelical current within the Church of England, I/we pray that it’s influence would grow in this largely liberal body.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
