Today we pray for…
Attendees: Sydney and Marcia
We ask God to fill these ladies with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We pray this that they may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that they may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father (Colossians 1:9-12).
Many of the attendees are at a crossroads in their lives. They may be considering another country to serve in, or they may be ending a season of ministering overseas. Father, You know the plans you have for each of them. May they renew their trust in You, revive their love for You, and quicken their spirits to be in tune with Yours. Grant them clarity of mind and direction.
One cannot help but be overwhelmed by the numbers associated with the country of China. Over 1.3 billion people in the third largest country in the world. Some estimates have the number of Christians approaching 300 million, reflecting incredible growth in spite of a government that obsesses on control. Many cross-cultural workers from a wide range of countries are in China spreading the good news but not in traditional ways. From teaching English to compassion ministries, men and women are being used by God to reach this massive population. As the country continues on its road in becoming the world’s economic giant, many feel that the window of receptive hearts will be closing. Materialism may prove to be a far greater enemy of the gospel than any repressive regime. Pray that the church would continue to grow in spite of official persecution within the house church movement as well as the temptation of softening one’s witness in the churches officially recognized.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
