My name is Rose* and my husband and I, along with our two kids, have lived in West Asia for six years. We work with an organization that translates scripture for Bible-less people groups, namely minorities who have access to scripture in the national language but have very few resources in their mother-tongue. At the heart of our service is the desire to see both minority and majority speakers have a meaningful and vibrant faith with God.
When neighbors ask me what I “do”, I sometimes pause for a second before answering. The easy answer is “I’m a housewife and mom” and that usually satisfies their curiosity. The fuller answer is that behind the scenes there have been many opportunities over the years for me to be involved in relationship building with neighbors, studying God’s word with fellow believers, and investing in our local church we attend. Since our kids have recently settled into school life I am exploring finding more of what is my calling outside of the “easy answer”. In this new season of life I am considering opportunities that have been simmering on the back burner of my heart for many years, specifically to become involved with Ethno Arts. My desire is to see ethnic dance, storytelling, art, and music be woven into the fabric of what it means to be a follower of Christ in West Asia.
I would love prayer for my family and I as we are a few months away from our home-assignment for this summer. I’m feeling really ready to take a break and reconnect with friends and family back home. Please pray that I can stay focused on the here and now, even as our departure date draws nearer. And I would love prayer for direction of what the next few steps in this season of service may look like.
