We pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen each of these ladies with power through his Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. May they have the power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Do so in a way that is immeasurably more than all they could ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within each of them! (Ephesians 3:14-20).
Lord, we thank you that Sarah, Chantelle, and Stacey heard and obeyed Your call to serve overseas. Language and culture learning may be some of the most draining things about beginning a new life on the field, yet they are also the very things that bring a worker to a place of contentment and effectiveness. Father God, we ask that You give them courage, perseverance and energy for this process. Help them maintain (or develop) a sense of humor in the midst of the struggles. Grant them creativity (especially with little ones), discipline, interspersed with much grace. Guard them from the ever present comparison game with others.
Please help the attendees figure out the logistics of leaving kids and ministry behind, and keep everyone healthy. Give them travel mercies and may they arrive on time to enjoy every minute of the retreat.
CAMBODIA: Few countries have as deep social and emotional scars as Cambodia. Approximately 20% of its population was murdered by the Khmer Rouge in the mid 70’s. Hundreds of thousands more have become refugees. Child prostitution and AIDS plagues the country and corruption is rampant. Yet the ills of Cambodia give opportunity for Christian NGOs to show the love of Jesus Christ by ministering to the needs of the people. We pray for wise and creative approaches in bringing the gospel to the Cambodian people and the many Cambodians that have become Christ followers as refugees would return to their homeland as evangelists.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
