Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).
Lord, significant friendships are even more valued when one leaves their family and country to serve You elsewhere. We want to ask Your blessing and provision of a deep friendship for Tiffany, Sharon, Laura, and Ahna today. May they all thoroughly enjoy the “girl time” at the retreat, feel they can be themselves and be accepted.
Father, we want to lift up the single women serving you overseas. We pray that they would find a close friend either on their team or with a national believer; may this person join them in fellowship with You. We ask that they will develop friends that are like-minded; may they find girlfriends that they can just have fun with! Help them guard their schedules. As they say goodbye and hello to many roommates, enable them to keep their hearts open. Provide for their needs in unique ways and encourage them when they long for companionship and the closeness of family and friends in the States. Help them lean hard into You during dry, hard and lonely seasons of life. Many of them have the desire and are open to getting married. May they trust You in this area of their life–we ask You to orchestrate meeting godly, available men, in Your perfect timing. If they are in a relationship, we ask that You give them wisdom and discernment as to Your will for them. Fill them with godly contentment and intimate encounters with You.
Lord, we ask for traveling mercies, connections, luggage arriving, health and stamina as the volunteer team flies out today for Bali (it will take them two full days!).
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
