TODAY WE LIFT UP LONG-DISTANCE GRAND PARENTING
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also (II Timothy 1:5).
How exciting that Beth and Blair are in for three special days at the retreat! May it be a memorable experience that continues to encourage them as time goes by.
Dear Father, we ask that You would be with the grandmothers who are serving overseas and missing their grandchildren. They think about the kind of legacy they could leave behind if they spent more time together. It would be easy to feel a bit cheated or experience a sense of loss. Help these women see the legacy they are leaving by following Your call on their lives—even though it takes them away from their grandchildren— might be even greater than the influence they could have by being physically near. As they love and obey You, though the cost is high, they are communicating to their grandchildren Your honor and worthiness of such sacrifice.
The rest of the volunteer staff flies to Guatemala City today. Lord, they covet travel mercies, luggage arrival along with a sense of expectation and adventure. Go before them in customs, and we pray for a cloak of safety while they are there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
