What do you think is the best way to engage with the Word of God? You might think, “Well, just read it!” But what if your culture had never had the Gospel in your language before? What if your language had never even been written before?
My name is Maria. I am a Scripture Use Specialist with Wycliffe Bible Translators working in Asia. My husband and I had been working with one language group for over a decade now and God is opening doors to three or four related groups in the area. Since most of these people have an oral culture, we are planning on starting an Oral Bible Storying Cluster project among them. Starting in January, we are planning on doing one-week workshops six times in 2017.
- I am looking forward to this great opportunity, but this will mean a lot of time away from family. I would appreciate prayers for wisdom and grace as we start this new work.
- Please pray for everyone involved, pray that the diversity in cultures, languages, and denominations would be a blessing not a hindrance in the work going forward.
- Please pray that we would have good family times together, our oldest daughter is graduating from high school this school year. Pray for her as she seeks God’s leading and for all of us as we transition from a family of four to a family of three when she goes off to college.
